Step 1 - Intent
The character I wish to develop in this stage of the project will be half a man and half boxer dog, so a little like the Egyptian guards of the sacred temples. But the main difference will be to make him far more human, like by including more human bodily features and movements. The Character based of the old guards of the temple will now be remodeled my me to be the modern cop dog master of security with the attitude of a real moody state trooper / small town sheriff / grumpy security guard.
The reasons for choosing these entities for my character are that ever since I was a little boy I have loved boxer dogs. I had a boxer dog instead of a teddy as my first soft toy and then when I was old enough to care for an animal, my parents got me a real boxer dog. All I can say about them is that they are the most kind and playful animal I can imagine and that’s why I want to portray one in my character. The thought of making this childhood memory of my boxer well all the boxers in my life then come true in a boxer/ human comical character really works for me hence this is what i will achieve in movement and shape.
This character's name will be MagDorg, a combination of the name of the characters creator, hence human reflection and of the characters visual and movement elements; the dog and again man likeness.
The story of Sheriff Magdorg will be of him trying to make the environment or space he is in a better place to me in but every so often he need to make his social status noticed my enforcing some kind of stupidity. Then there will also be instances where Sheriff MagDorg just has his mood swings showing real overloads character as he reacts to these mood changes and punishes an innocent with his issues .
Now onto the visual development, next follows some of the developmental sketches then a sprite sheet and then
the digital response.
